Why Your Skin Breaks Out After a Facial—The Truth About Purging vs. Bad Reactions

Ever had a facial and thought, ‘Why am I breaking out more?’ Here’s what’s happening…

You’ve just had a deep-clean acne facial. Your skin feels refreshed, smooth, and lighter… but a few days later, new breakouts appear. You might be thinking, “Why is this happening? Did the treatment make it worse?”

What is purging? The science behind purging.

The truth is—this is often a normal (and temporary) part of the healing process called purging. And while it can feel frustrating, it’s actually a sign your skin is doing exactly what we want it to do: clear itself from the inside out.

What Is Purging?

Purging is your skin’s way of speeding up its natural renewal cycle to push out what’s been hiding beneath the surface. Normally, a clogged pore can take 28–40 days to rise to the surface (even longer if your skin is more mature). After a deep-clean treatment, that process is accelerated, so you might see breakouts appear sooner than they would have on their own.

It’s not your skin “getting worse.” It’s your skin flushing out the buildup that would have eventually surfaced anyway, just in a slower, more drawn-out way.

The Science Behind Purging

From a human physiology perspective, here’s what’s happening during and after a deep-clean acne facial:

  • Boosted Skin Turnover – Professional exfoliation, enzymes, or gentle acids stimulate cell shedding, which helps loosen pore blockages.

  • Release of Trapped Debris – Blackheads, oil plugs, and bacteria deeper in the pores are moved upward so they can be expelled.

  • Short-Term Inflammation – Your immune system sends healing cells to the area, which can make pimples appear red or slightly swollen before they calm down.

Purging vs. Bad Reaction

It’s important to know the difference because purging doesn’t always follow the “textbook” rules.

Purging:
This is part of the clearing process. It can appear in both the areas you usually break out and in other areas that still have congestion. For example, if you typically get acne on your cheeks, those spots may flare during purging, but you might also see pimples on your chin or forehead as deeper blockages clear.

The timeline varies; some people only purge for a couple of weeks, while others may go through a few cycles over several months. I’ve had clients purge for up to 12 weeks before things noticeably slowed down. It can feel like things are getting worse, but it’s your skin actively clearing so it can finally heal.

Bad Reaction:
A bad reaction feels different from purging. It might show up as hives or a rash-like texture, along with swelling, burning, or itching. These symptoms aren’t part of the clearing process; they’re your skin’s way of saying, “Something isn’t right.” Unlike purging, they tend to get worse over time instead of easing up. If this happens, it’s important to pause, reassess the products or treatments you’re using, and contact your skin expert so they can guide you on the next safe step.

Don’t Panic! Here’s Why This Matters

I know how discouraging it can be to invest in a treatment and then see more breakouts in the mirror. You might even wonder, “Is this really working?”

The truth is, purging is not a setback; it’s a necessary step forward. Think of it as the “dust storm” before a clear blue sky: your skin is bringing up what’s been buried deep so it can finally repair itself on a clean foundation.

Stopping treatments too soon interrupts that process, leaving congestion only half-cleared—and more likely to flare up again. If you allow your skin to complete this stage, you give it the best chance at long-lasting clarity.

And remember you’re not alone in this. I’ll guide you through each stage, adjust your treatments and home care when needed, and help you reach that “clear sky” moment.

Bottom line: Purging is your skin’s reset button. Trust the process, and what’s waiting on the other side is calmer, clearer, healthier skin.

Ready for clearer skin?
If you’re dealing with breakouts after a facial or you’re worried about what’s “normal,” let’s talk. Every skin has a story, and I’m here to guide yours to a clear skin journey.

The Ultimate Guide to Acne Scar Types and How Bio-Micro needling can Transform Your Skin

Did you know that 1 in 5 people struggle with acne scars? They're not just marks on your skin; they're blemishes on your confidence. I get it!

Now let's break it down.

How Do You Get Acne Scars?

When you get a pimple, your skin is inflamed. Your body tries to heal it by making new skin cells, but sometimes it goes a bit overboard. Too many cells = a raised scar. Too few cells = a dented scar.

Why Do You Get Acne Scars?

  • Overproduce sebum (Oil) production: You're more likely to get acne and the scars that follow because of extra oil.

  • Inflammation: The angrier the zit, the bigger the risk for a scar. Inflammation can eat away at collagen, leading to dented scars.

  • Acne Severity and Duration: The worse the acne, the worse the scars, especially if it sticks around for a long time and is tough to get rid of.

Types of Acne Scars

  1. Ice Pick Scars: Small but deep holes. These are like tiny holes or dents that can go deep into your skin. You get them when a nasty cyst leaves a long-lasting mark from the skin's surface down to the deeper layers.

  2. Boxcar Scars: Wider, U-shaped scars. Think of these as wide, boxy dips in your skin. They happen when zit-related inflammation messes with your skin's building block, collagen, and makes it sink.

  3. Rolling Scars: Makes your skin look wavy. Imagine gentle hills and valleys on your skin—that's what rolling scars look like. They happen because fibrous tissue bands tug at your skin from below, making it look wavy.

  4. Raised Scars (Hypertrophic and Keloid): These guys are different; they pop up instead of sinking down. They show up when your skin goes overboard making collagen while healing from acne.

  5. Hyperpigmentation: Not really a scar but a dark spot.

There are many ways to treat acne scars such as laser Therapy, Chemical Peel Acid, filler, Microneedling cream, serum etc…..but, today we are going to talk about how we help Acne scar clients with our Bio-Microneedling.

What is Bio-Microneedling?

Bio-microneedling, also known as Spongilla Spicules, comes from freshwater sponges. These tiny, needle-like bits are turned into a powder or gel. When it touches your skin, it acts like a mini scrubbing brush. Think of it as a high-tech way to exfoliate and jumpstart your skin's healing process.

How Bio-Microneedling Comes to the Rescue for Acne and Scars?

Bio-Microneedling helps increase blood flow and kicks your skin cells into gear. This means it can tackle several skin problems like:

  • Acne: Gets the gunk out and helps your skin breathe.

  • Acne Scars: Stimulates your skin to fill in the gaps, reducing the look of scars.

  • Skin Tone: Helps even out the highs and lows in your skin's texture.

Conclusion

Acne scars might be common, but they don't have to be permanent. Understanding the types of scars you have is step one. Step two is finding the right treatment, and Bio-Microneedling might just be your skin's new BFF.

Ready to say goodbye to acne scars? Let's get your skin back to fabulous and let us help you through this battle with you!

Understanding the How and Why? Say Goodbye to Acne!

What’s Up With Acne, Anyway?

What’s Up With Acne, Anyway?

Ever wonder why you get acne? You're not alone. Acne usually starts when oil and dead skin clog up your hair follicles. Imagine your skin like a busy highway; sometimes traffic gets jammed, and that's when acne happens. Factors that can make it worse include:

  • Stress: Yep, stress can mess with your skin. When you're stressed, the hormone cortisol kicks in and makes your skin oilier.

  • Hormones change: Fluctuations in hormone levels, such as during puberty, menstrual cycles, pregnancy, or menopause, can affect oil production. They can send your oil glands into overdrive.

  • Diet: Eating a lot of sugar and processed carbs could make your skin oily and lead to acne. But it's not the same for everyone; how food affects your skin can be complicated.

  • Skincare Products: Using skincare products that are too harsh can dry out your skin, making it produce even more oil to balance things out. So, make sure you're using the right products for your skin condition not clogging your pores even more.

The Acne Drama: What Goes Down

  1. Oil Overload: Your skin makes too much oil.

  2. Clogged Pores: This oil mixes with dead skin and blocks your pores.

  3. Bacteria Bash: Acne bacteria love clogged pores.

  4. Red Alert: Your skin gets inflamed, and voila—acne!

Everything You Need to Know about Maskne

The pandemic has brought many unforeseeable changes, and one of those changes is having to wear a mask. Depending on your location, you might have to wear a mask just indoors, or you might have to wear a mask outdoors as well.

But the fact is, you still need to wear a mask until the pandemic is stifled. And although we are making progress towards stopping the spread of Covid-19, we don’t know when it’s going to be safe enough to drop the masks.

Although masks offer a lot of protection, they can also cause several issues. One of those issues is maskne.

What is Maskne?

Why Is It Important?

ZachVessels_Mask.jpg

The pandemic has brought many unforeseeable changes, and one of those changes is having to wear a mask. Depending on your location, you might have to wear a mask just indoors, or you might have to wear a mask outdoors as well.

But the fact is, you still need to wear a mask until the pandemic is stifled. And although we are making progress towards stopping the spread of Covid-19, we don’t know when it’s going to be safe enough to drop the masks.

Although masks offer a lot of protection, they can also cause several issues. One of those issues is maskne.

Now, maskne is not a new thing. A study that appeared in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology shows that 83% of the health care workers from Hubei, China, suffered different kinds of skin problems on the face.

Even though this phenomenon is more researched now, the truth is that a lot of health workers that are required to wear masks on a daily basis struggle to keep acne at bay. So this is definitely an issue that needs a solution as fast as possible.

But before we jump into the methods of treating and preventing maskne from occurring, let’s see first what maskne is.

What Is Maskne?

You might have noticed that your skin is acting up a bit since you started wearing a mask. If you had clear skin before, perhaps you noticed that the number of breakouts that you have is steadily increasing.

Or if you already had acne, it might have gotten worse since wearing a mask became the norm.

Maskne, also called acne mechanica or mask acne by professionals is a type of acne that appears in the area of your face that is covered by your mask. This means that on certain portions of your face, such as your chin, jawline, nose, and cheeks you can start seeing:

  • Irritations

  • Blemishes

  • Pimples

  • Blackheads

  • Whiteheads

Maskne Causes

We can all guess that maskne, as the name indicates, is caused by wearing a mask. But let’s dig a bit deeper and see why exactly is maskne caused by masks.

It seems like maskne can occur due to two main reasons:

  1. In most cases, it occurs when sweat, oil, and bacteria are trapped on your skin for long periods of time. The stuffy area under the maks creates a perfect breeding environment for breakouts. Maskne is different from acne or blemishes caused by hormones or hereditary issues, such as cystic acne.

  2. It can also occur due to the rubbing, pressure, friction, and stretching of the skin on your face, caused by wearing a mask for extended periods of time. People living in locations with humid and hot weather are more prone to experiencing maskne, due to the heat, excessive sweat, and the constant use of sunscreen.

Maskne Treatment and Prevention

You might have heard of the saying ‘prevention is better than a cure.’ We believe it to be a pretty accurate statement. Preventing maskne from happening can be a lot easier than treating it.

But how do you prevent maskne? Here are some tips:

If you want to wear a material mask, always choose a mask made out of 100% cotton. Not only are cotton materials breathable, but they are also gentle with the skin.

  • Wash your material mask daily with fragrance-free detergent.

  • If you’re going for disposable masks, try to replace them as often as possible. If this is not an option, let your masks air out before another use.

  • Avoid wearing makeup under your mask as much as possible.

  • Remove your mask every four hours for about 15 minutes.

  • Use a hydrate Moisture before wearing a mask.

Now you know a few preventive measures to avoid maskne, but what if you already have it? How can you treat maskne?

Having a good skincare routine is a big plus. But you need to take extra precautions when you’re dealing with maskne. Here’s what we think works best when trying to get rid of mask acne:

  1. Cleanse regularly and use a gentle cleanser as to not irritate and dry the skin further. Avoid cleansers that contain perfume and alcohol, as they are usually not good for your skin. If the acne caused by the mask is more severe, use cleansers that have salicylic acid a try.

  2. Moisturize regularly. Usually, it is indicated to moisturize after you have cleansed your skin. For this type of acne, a moisturizer has an antimicrobial solution, that helps balance bacteria and oils, while restoring hydration levels in inflamed acneic skins. Re-establishes the acid mantle, increases hydration and protects against transepidermal water loss (TEWL).

  3. Use a nourishing cream reduces inflammation, soothes reactivity, heals, protect and rebuild damaged skins.

Bottom Line

Whatever it’s caused by, acne is never a fun thing to deal with. Everybody’s skin is different, and it might react differently to certain skincare routines and skincare products. The best way to know what works and doesn’t work for you is to consult a specialist. And now, you can do that by scheduling a virtual consultation with one of our skincare specialists.

How to Get Clear, Glowing Skin

Are you struggling with acne and not sure how to clear up your skin?

You’ve probably tried a lot of different treatments, one leaving you more disappointed than the other.

How to Get Clear Glowing Skin.jpg

Are you struggling with acne and not sure how to clear up your skin?

You’ve probably tried a lot of different treatments, one leaving you more disappointed than the other.

It can be difficult to find an effective regimen for healing your acne or the right combination of products and home care that will show results not just in theory, but in your specific case as well.

And after you’ve been trying for so long, it can get draining. And disheartening.

But smooth, healthy, and vibrant skin is not impossible to achieve. With the right approach, you can slowly begin to rebuild your skin’s barrier and heal from the inside out. It takes patience and determination, but it’s possible and still within your reach to get the results you want.

You’d never take clear skin for granted. So, in this article, we’d like to share with you some must-know tips on how to get it.

Let’s begin.

Take good care of your body

Although it’s a myth that acne is caused by poor hygiene, more and more research has shown that diet and skin issues are definitely linked.

While it’s important to also use high-quality products that are a smart choice for your type of acne, it can be helpful to also supplement your treatment with self-care routines that soothe your skin and leave it feeling as smooth and healthy as it can be.

If you want clear skin (and to be able to maintain it long-term), you need to look after your body. This boils down to 3 key components: nutrition, exercise, and sleep.

When it comes to diet, here are some main guidelines you should be following:

  • Minimize saturated and trans fats as much as possible. (this includes fast food and products high in fat like dairy)

  • Avoid starchy foods (refined carbs) like white bread, pasta and sugar.

  • Incorporate a lot of heart-healthy fats into your diet like nuts, seeds, and avocados.

  • Binge on foods rich in antioxidants like blueberries, goji berries, spinach, strawberries, and dark chocolate. (this is especially helpful if you’re dealing with stubborn acne scars)

  • Stay hydrated throughout the day (aim for 8 glasses of water by the end of the night).

  • Focus your daily meals on staple foods that help fight acne and reduce flare-ups like whole-grain bread, carrots, brown rice, kale, sweet potatoes, and legumes.

While nutrition can be the cornerstone to long-term healthy skin, you shouldn’t overlook other lifestyle aspects that might be contributing to breakouts. So make sure you’re also getting enough sleep (aim for 8 hours of rest each night) and exercising regularly (at least 3 times per week).

Now that we’ve covered the basics, let’s move on to our next point.

Know which products are good for you (and which you should stay away from)

This is one of the most important pieces of advice to remember when struggling with acne.

Using the right products will help heal your skin, and repeatedly using pore-clogging, harsh products will only delay your progress.

You need to find the highest quality for your daily products, with active ingredients that work towards and not against repairing your skin’s healthy barrier. This means making an effort to read labels, learning about toxins that can trigger breakouts or asking for guidance from a professional.

Important note: the FDA does not regulate terms like non-comedogenic. So just because a label says the product doesn’t clog your pores doesn’t necessarily mean it’s true. This is why it’s essential to familiarize yourself with the ingredients and choose carefully.

Dealing with Pimples as an Adult Is So NOT Fair

Acne can occur later in life. Some adults continue to get acne well into their 30s, 40s, and even 50s. It is even possible to get acne for the first time as an adult. Dermatologists and Estheticians call this “adult-onset acne.” It is most common among women going through menopause.

Acne can occur later in life. Some adults continue to get acne well into their 30s, 40s, and even 50s. It is even possible to get acne for the first time as an adult. Dermatologists and Estheticians call this “adult-onset acne.” It is most common among women going through menopause.

While acne may be nonexistent or dormant for years, certain factors like diet, stress, and hormones can eventually cause it to surface, with frustrating emotional side effects. Which can lead to significant negative outcomes; scarring of the skin and post inflammatory hyper-pigmentation that can translate into low self-esteem for many.

Less Stress

The stress hormone cortisol aggravates acne as it sits on the androgen receptors which trigger an acne cascade.

Avoid Starchy Foods

A high-glycemic diet raises blood sugar and insulin levels that may lead to breakouts. A healthy GI tract is important for optimal health and a trim waste line and your skin.

Know your Pore Clogging Ingredients

The term non-comedogenic isn’t regulated by the FDA. Do not ever put anything on your skin or your hair without checking the ingredients first, even if it says “won’t clog pores” or “noncomedogenic” on the bottle.

And remember to always wear a light weight sunscreen designed for acne prone skin. The sun's UV rays break down collagen, causing fine lines and wrinkles. The sun also dries out your skin, which prompts the sebaceous glands to overcompensate by pumping out more pore-clogging oils and causing breakouts.

What is Acne and What to Do About It?

You know what acne is when you see it yourself or others, but what exactly is it and how can you get rid of it?

What is Acne and What to Do About it.jpg

You know what acne is when you see it yourself or others, but what exactly is it and how can you get rid of it?

Acne is a skin condition that occurs when the hair follicles on your skin get clogged with oil and dead skin cells. This clog can show up in the form of whiteheads, blackheads, pimples, papule, pustule or bumps. Not only are these sores unsightly, but they are also painful and uncomfortable. It's frustrating to see acne on your skin, but it can be tough to figure out what to do about it.

One common myth is that acne is caused by poor hygiene, but that is completely untrue. Your face isn't breaking out because you are failing to keep it clean. In fact, excessive scrubbing and harsh cleaning might even lead to more acne. For that reason, it’s important to stick to gentle cleansing your face only twice a day and to focus on using high-quality clinical products that are full of beneficial ingredients, not harsh chemicals.

But then what can you do to get rid of this unattractive acne if cleaning is not the answer? Two of the biggest causes of acne are a surge in hormones and your diets. The surge in your hormones can cause too much of the oil called sebum to be made. Normally your skin makes the right amount of this oil, which we need for proper moisture control, but when your hormones change, you can end up creating too much, which then gets clogged in your pores.

It’s also important to eat the right foods. When you are healthy on the inside, you will see the results reflected on the outside, and your skin is the largest place on the body to see these effects.

At Beauty Journey, we work with our clients to help manage acne. Depending on whether your skin is oily, dry or a combination, different types of acne may result and the most effective treatments and products for you will vary based on your individual skin and condition. We work to clear acne for our clients using our skin expertise paired with our high-quality clinical products and cutting edge technology on treatments. But it’s important to remember that it’s an ongoing process. The only way to maintain clear skin is to commit to a home care regimen that is catered to your individual needs. Then it’s all about staying consistent with a treatment program.

When you opt to see an esthetician for your acne needs, we are able to provide you with treatments and products that are more active than in-home care products. That is why it's so important to maintain a monthly routine at the studio. Even the best treatment isn't permanent if a consistent skin care regimen isn't maintained. Cells have a long memory and will fall back into their old patterns when stress, hormones, and/or diet gets back to work.

If you’re looking to take the first step in clearing your acne, schedule a consultation with us today. We’ve worked with hundreds of clients just like you who are struggling to keep their skin clear. We have treatments that will get rid of your acne, and we can guide you as to what you should be doing at home to prevent your acne from resurfacing. If you’re ready, we are here to make you feel beautiful/handsome and youthful look again.

The DMK Differences

Patty’s Journey is an example of the DMK difference. Patty had 6 DMK treatments and a few Lightwave Therapy sessions over the course of one month, and her after photo is the latest result.

The DMK Differences.jpg

Patty’s Journey is an example of the DMK difference. Patty had 6 DMK treatments and a few Lightwave Therapy sessions over the course of one month, and her after photo is the latest result. Patty was struggling with a desquamated enzyme functionality problem. Rather than moving through the skin smoothly, her enzymes were asleep and sticking together like layers of cement. The result was her skin had a thick and dull texture, and the dead cells were building up on her sebaceous glands and hair follicles resulting in acne.

Most skin treatments focus on treating the surface of skin. So another treatment might just attempt to resolve Patty's visible acne. It makes some sense. The surface is what we see. It’s how we gauge results. From what we see on the surface, we can make a decision as to whether something is working or not. So it’s not surprising that’s where most treatments choose to focus.

But wait, what?! That sounds crazy.

Focusing only on the surface means ignoring the real problem. It’s a quick fix, sure, but it’s not doing anything for the long-term health of your skin.

That’d be like repainting your deck without first making sure the wood itself is in decent condition. If the wood was damaged and you painted over it, sure it would look better immediately, but all the problems that you ignored would soon work their way right back to the surface. You’d be repainting all the time trying to make your deck look good. But if you just spent a little time caring for the wood underneath, you could save yourself a lot of time and effort.

DMK is the same premise. Treat and strengthen the skin at a cellular level, and you’ll be rewarded with skin that not only looks good on the outside, but is healthy on the inside.

The DMK process is: Remove. Rebuild. Protect. Maintain

Most skin treatments stop at “Remove,” but not DMK. DMK works because it matches an individual’s unique biochemistry with the appropriate treatments. Then it continues to move through all four steps of the process.

Remove: This is first step. This is how we “open the door” for skin revision. We often hear the word “peel” to describe this step, but the skin is more complex than simply peeling off layer after layer like an onion. The best way to “Remove” is through a more complex process called enzyme hydrolyzation, which ultimately brings new skin cells to the surface.

Rebuild: In the rebuild phase, we restore skin’s optimum function. The DMK treatments achieve this through transepidermal delivery so the enzymes can simulate the functions that should be happening, and eventually your skin will re-learn what to do.

When we younger, our skin automatically performed at its optimum level, but eventually time brings about different imbalances. This is all normal and the result of every day skin functions. Acne is not some horrible affliction. It’s simply the result of an increase in he cellular proliferation and sebum production. When you understand the problem, you know exactly how to treat it. Similarly aging happens when the processes start to become slow and sluggish. With this in mind, we can introduce the right enzymes to help the skin function efficiently again.

Protect: Once we’ve starting rebuilding the skin, we need to protect if from everything that can damage the good work we’ve done so far. Antioxidants are used at this stage to maximize the strength of inhibitors and the cells that regulate the immune system. And perhaps most important, is the application of sunscreen.

Maintain: Only so much can happen behind the doors of our treatment rooms. The right homecare is essential for achieving your desired results. DMK doesn’t just leave you hanging; the concept provides you with a lifelong skin management program that is easy to make a part of your everyday routine.

DMK works because it’s such a natural process. It’s perfect for all of those stubborn skin conditions that seem so difficult to manage: acne, rosacea, scarring, wrinkles and more.

If your skin has lost its former luster, DMK can help to revise and restore. Like any of our treatments, DMK is a journey; but it’s one journey that is well worth taking.

To book a consultation to see if DMK is right for you or to go ahead and get started with an appointment, head over HERE.

Trigger Healthy Skin With DMK Enzyme Therapy

Your skin is like a factory. When the conditions in any factory are healthy, it means all the workers in that factory are fully supported and equipped to do their best work. When the workers do their best work, it means high-quality products. On the other hand, when that environment is toxic, the workers no longer perform at their best because the conditions are unfavorable. They get sluggish and lazy. Things slip through the cracks, and the final product suffers.

The exact same is true for your skin. When your skin has limited resources to work with, it does the best it can with what it has, and the results speak for themselves. When your skin doesn’t have the biochemical tools it needs, it literally can’t create the cells that would give you clear, firm, healthy skin. Instead, you’ll get skin full of fine lines and wrinkles or pockmarked by acne or spotted with hyperpigmentation. The skin simply doesn’t have what it needs to be anything more than that. Not to mention that in a poorly functioning system, harmful toxins are building up.

That’s where DMK Enzyme Therapy comes in. This breakthrough treatment instigates change at the cellular level. It uses biochemistry that your skin already understands to trigger the processes that create a more youthful complexion. Unlike minerals and nutrients, which simply penetrate the skin for some effect, enzymes literally make their way into the skin and activate it. They get positive messages moving in the skin, and the results are healthier, firmer and more nourished skin.

These enzymatic treatments dilate the capillaries and help deliver fresh nutrients to your living cells. They also cause a lymph drainage action, ridding your cells waste. During your treatment, you will feel tiny vibrations and pulsing, that means everything all working.

Reverse osmosis will also take place. This is a “back flushing” Reverse Osmosis forces fluids from inside the skin cells out through the cell wall membrane and into the matrix. This leaves a clean, clear, toxin-free environment surrounding the cells. As results you have healthy, strong, firmer skin moving forward to replace the damaged skin. DMK also increases collagen production.

Basically, DMK Enzyme Therapy helps create a healthy living space for your skin cells. When the cells’ living conditions are healthy and favorable, your skin cells are free to be their best cells. This means your skin looks amazing. It’s clear, it’s firm and it’s smooth.

DMK is a truly miraculous therapy that approaches skincare from a holistic angle. It’s the only treatment of its kind in existence and is based on volumes of research. But the real proof is in the treatment itself. Not only can you feel it working during your session but the results are visible shortly after. If slowing down the aging process, clearing away acne or creating a smooth even complexion are on your wish list, this therapy is a must-do.

Don't Let Your Acne Keep You in The Dark

Acne – it’s a tiny four letter word, but it haunts teens and young adults everywhere with its bold presence. It sneaks up on you one day out of nowhere and starts waging a battle that seems impossible to win. Suddenly your worst nightmare is any instance where your face is on display, where the lights are bright, where the only thing between you and total embarrassment is mounds of pathetic concealer. You’re not the cute, smooth-skinned presence you once were, and it seems like you may never be that bubbly, happy person again.

On paper, acne doesn’t sound like that terrible of an opponent. After all, there are millions of products out there that should be able to help and tons of advice on the internet to go along with it. Then why does acne still seem to have the upper hand no matter what you do?

Well first off, acne is embarrassing. Once you’ve got it, you immediately stop feeling empowered in your life and are left feeling mostly self-conscious. You’re desperate to turn back the clock and go back to the skin you had as a kid. That means that you have no fear and will try even treatments that seem harsh or dangerous. In fact, the harsher, the better. That seems like the answer, until you start finding that harshness might work in the short term but actually makes things a lot worse.

Plus the information that exists out there doesn’t address YOUR particular skin, and the exact reasons why your acne has surfaced. So you can be experimenting with different solutions for months or years trying to figure out what works for your skin. And all you’ll likely end up with are nasty scars and endless frustration.

The most common treatments and “standard” acne-blasting products tend to be super drying. It seems like common sense to want to dry out oily, acne-prone areas. But the truth is that all skin, even acne-prone skin needs moisture. It’s important to use products like Beauty Journey’s Fancy Jasper Serum, which calms inflammation and neutralizes toxins or Rescue Cream, which prevents acne and reduces red blotchiness. Using the right products that contain natural and effective ingredients is far superior than resorting to the cheaper products at your pharmacy.

Plus, what you don’t realize is that these drying solutions that you’re lathering on now cause premature aging and damage down the road. The last thing you need is to overcome your acne only to have to deal with early signs of aging once your face is clear. When can you just stop worrying about your skin?

Beauty Journey’s Enhance Therapy is your customized solution for dealing with your acne in a healthy, rewarding way. The goal behind the treatment is to formulate a complete solution that paves the way for healthy and bright skin in the years ahead while obliterating your acne in the present.

Every face is different. Your particular circumstances, diet and DNA are unique, meaning that your skin can’t be healed with a generic product or solution that is intended for the population at large. Treating acne successfully and naturally means treating the individual, and determining what your specific combination of traits requires. That is what we specialize in at Beauty Journey. We don’t treat you and send you on your way. We come up with a regimen that you can continue at home and a schedule of sessions that will achieve the best results for you.

Acne doesn’t have to mean the end of the world. It simply means your skin is calling out for attention. That’s what we aim to address with the Enhance Therapy. With the customized solutions created for you at Beauty Journey, you can finally get back to enjoying life. You won’t mind giving that oral report, going to a sleepover or swimming with your friends because you’ll have regained the confidence that your acne stole away from you.

Winning the War On Acne

Helping a lifelong acne sufferer clear her skin for good and start living her life with confidence.

For Vivian, acne has NEVER not been a problem. Teenage acne turned into adult acne, and her complexion simply kept getting worse and worse. She tried every treatment out there to no avail. It was only at the prospect of trying a controversial medication, ridden with side effects that she stopped to consider seeking out the professionals at Beauty Journey. But so many things had let her down in the past that she silently expected another failure.

The Challenge was clear:

· Vivian wanted a permanent solution to her consistent acne problem.

· She needed something that would treat the root of the problem so that it wouldn’t occur anymore, but she also needed something to help her resolve all the damage that had been done after every breakout in the past.

· And if the results were acceptable, she didn’t mind paying, but after so many failed attempts, she couldn’t shrug off the pestering feeling that she could be wasting her money yet again.

Some of the things Vivian had tried with no success included: nearly every over the counter acne cream, gel and wash, the Proactive line, specialty Korean skin products, and even prescription products diagnosed by her dermatologist. None of these made a difference.

Every failed attempt was not only costly, but it allowed for more damage to the skin, either because the medications were too harsh or because more breakouts meant more scarring.

Vivian was in an impossible and frustrating position.

The Outcome was clear as well – CLEAR SKIN that is:

Kristina, met with Vivian. From the first moment, it was clear to Vivian that Kristina genuinely cared about her clients. The first thing she noticed about Kristina was how sweet and helpful she was, but once she started talking about skin, it was evident she had a plethora of knowledge. That combination immediately calmed Vivian’s worries. She knew she was in good hands.

After an initial skin analysis, Vivian got the enhance Therapy with LED light and scar treatment.

“The Enhance Therapy included extractions, which were honestly not fun, but definitely beneficial. It was a relief knowing that my clogged pores were getting cleared and not simmering beneath the surface, waiting to turn into a gigantic pimple in my future.”

Vivian was impressed with how clean and sanitary the whole process was. Throughout the course of her treatment, there were many procedures and products used--too many for her to keep track of, but she had the utmost confidence in Kristina and was starting to see progress in her skin.

“From all this, I learned that it’s very important to be patient. Clear skin is not something that magically happens overnight. Long term acne must be treated from the outside and the inside, and this takes time.”

In the beginning there was a period of purging. Kristina explained that it has to get worse before it gets better, so Vivian was prepared to be patient. By the 4th -6th week, her skin still looked rough. It was a difficult time, but she didn’t give up. Eventually, the old pimples started going away and even the occasional new one healed super quickly. She felt her skin getting stronger, and after 6 Enhance treatments, her acne was mostly gone. She added one more round of scar treatment to target the stubborn older scars.

“I remember some of the pigmentation from large acne areas would take almost a year to fade naturally, but with the treatments, every week results were seen right away.”

Vivian learned a lot from her sessions. Kristina talked about the importance of hormone levels, and how balance plays such an integral role in skin health. Harmonized water and Dim supplements helped immensely with this.

As is the case for most people struggling with acne, product overload is a giant problem. There are so many options on the market, that it’s helpful to have an ally on your side who knows how to wade through what’s beneficial and what’s not.

“It’s definitely nice to just stick with an expert’s recommendation and have the peace of mind that I’m not randomly using something that will continue to clog my pores. My favorite is their sunblock. It goes on so smoothly and has a nice light tint that helps minimize the redness while my face heals.”

Beauty Journey understands that every outbreak is like a battle. It leaves scarring and damage, and is terrible to go through. Sometimes, you get lucky and a battle turns out to be minimal, but still the damage adds up, and the core problem just gets buried deeper. Beauty Journey is here to help you win the entire war on acne, to stop the very root of the problem, and to start living your life without wasting energy worrying about your skin.

Vivian took a chance on Beauty Journey when she at her wit’s end. And the results are astounding.

“I can’t say enough about how impressed I am with Beauty Journey. The results speak for themselves. Seeing others before/after pictures convinced me to give Beauty Journey a try, and now, looking at my Before/After pictures proves that I made the right decision. I am definitely planning on being a permanent client. I never want to deal with another round of purging, clogged pores and severe acne ever again. Thank you Kristina and Beauty Journey.”

Acne is a skin concern that affects people of all ages; contrary to popular belief, it's not just teenagers who suffer from breakouts. Adult acne is just as prevalent, but the good news is that we can help you achieve the clear, beautiful skin you've always dreamed of having. Read on to learn what you can do to get rid of acne and keep your skin looking and feeling its best.

Prevention is Key for Acne-Free Skin

A healthy lifestyle goes a long way towards keeping acne at bay. While certain foods don't necessarily cause acne, the quality of what we eat definitely shows in our skin. Encourage glowing skin from head to toe by staying hydrated with plenty of water, and fill your plate with fruits and vegetables, which are packed with skin-saving antioxidants.

Avoiding stress is important when it comes to achieving clear skin. According to Dr. Sushma Shah, it's a fact that excessive stress can show on your skin—especially if you're already prone to breakouts. During times of high tension, the cells that produce sebum can go into overdrive and cause your pores to become clogged, leading to an acne eruption. Exercise is a great way to de-stress, and it increases circulation—which has a positive effect on the health of your skin.

Another way to prevent and treat acne is by using products that are specially formulated for your skin concerns. Beauty Journey Studio has an array of skin-nourishing formulas to tackle your biggest skin issues; our products are effective yet extremely gentle. You don't have to worry about over-drying your skin because our products are designed to preserve your skin's natural moisture barrier.

Choose the Right Products to Treat Your Acne

Our skin care products harness the power of nature to give you your best skin ever. A good place to start is with one of our cleansers. Try our Coconut Lime Balancing Cleanser, which gently removes pore-clogging dirt and debris from your skin while leaving its natural oils intact. The natural ingredients in this formula help balance oil production and calm inflammation, while also reducing discoloration from sun damage and acne scars.

After cleansing, treat your skin to a serum. Our Nutrition B serum is ideal for acne-prone skin because it's formulated with skin-soothing ingredients that not only battle breakouts but also calm redness and normalize your skin's natural oil production. This serum protects against damaging UV rays and restores the epidermal barrier to keep your skin looking fresh and youthful.

It's a misconception that acne sufferers shouldn't use moisturizer. In fact, all skin types need hydration; the key is choosing the right product for you. Try our Jasper moisturizer, which is packed with hyaluronic acid and jojoba seed oil. Jojoba is good for oily skin because it balances hydration levels without clogging pores or causing a greasy residue.

Beauty Journey Studio Can Reveal Your Best Skin Ever

At Beauty Journey Studio, we not only offer premium-quality skin care products but also a wide range of facial treatments that help you put your best face forward. Try Enhance Therapy, which is an all-inclusive package for acne sufferers that's customized to suit your skin by our team of highly trained and experienced estheticians. Some of you have gone through treatments such as micro-dermabrasion and chemical peels. Some of you have taken accutane, antibiotic or even laser based upon recommendations from your dermatologists. Acne, why do I bring up this topic? I have seen so many of you come to my studio have acne and acne scar problems. Some of you have gone through treatments such as micro-dermabrasion and chemical peels. Some of you have taken accutane, antibiotic or even laser based upon recommendations from your dermatologists. Some of you have experienced DIY at home. Do they work? The answer is NO. WHY?

In reality, Acne is a toxin reaction because our skin is a detox organ. You all might hear from me say it to you a lot. Your skin is a mirror of your internal. What you put in is what you get out. Your skin is a filter to help remove toxicity out of your body. The majority problems from Acne are coming from Candida, estrogen toxin, and your diet.

First let‘s talk about Candida. Why do you have Candida?

Candida has over 56 different strains causing different problems on our skin such as Acne, Rosacea, Eczema, Psoriasis, or Seborrheic Dermatitis. Some common symptoms on our body are allergic reaction such as congested nose, headache, dizziness, diarrhea, arthritis, depression... Others are Gastrointestinal problem, Respiratory problem, Cardio-vascular problem, Genitourinary problem, Musculoskeletal problem, Central nervous system problem, and the list is on and on…..

What is Candida?

Candida is one of many different types of yeasts. Yeast cells are able to grow on the surface of all living things and occur virtually everywhere. The fact is we breathe, eat, and drink them daily. Because they are part of our daily lives, we have yeast growing in our skin, on other body surfaces, and in our intestines. Normally, our bodies’ defense system keeps the total number of yeast cells under control. So, candida colonies in our intestinal tract are nothing to worry about. However, poor nutrition or medication such as steroid, birth control pills, antibiotics, accutane etc…. or sluggish or impaired immune system weaken the body’s ability to fight off yeast. Stress and environment pollutants can also play a role in reducing the body’s defenses over candida. When this happens, yeast colonies grow rapidly and candida may result .When Candida overgrows in your gut, you will have small bumps or cysts on your forehead or cheeks.

What is about Estrogen toxins?

Every day in your adult life, you are facing 1 millions of toxins. 1/3 of them are Estrogen toxins which comes from the food you eat and drink containing either pesticides, plasticides, food preservatives and chlorine.

How can you clean up your diet?

Foods with a high glycemic index link to acne. So, avoid them as much as you can. When you eat a lot of high glycemic foods, your body experiences an increase of glucose and insulin levels. A body with a low glycemic diet has 50% fewer accounts of acne. Switch to whole grain options, instead, because they’re high in antioxidants and are anti-inflammatory.

Sugar, as much as we love right? it is one of the absolute worst things for our skin. It is the most acne food that we consume, and weakens our immune system to boot! Too much of it will make your skin, health, and promote candida to over growth. Unfortunately, studies have shown that sugar feeds cancer as well. So in general, we all have to cut back. When it comes to your skin, too much of it in your body weakens your ability to fight bacteria. Long story short, more toxins = worse skin.

How to prevent acne:

  • Cut down any foods containing white sugars and sugar substitutes as much as you can.

  • Cut down red meat and pork.

  • Cut down dairy products with milk, buttermilk, whipped cream, sour cream, ice cream including cheese except ricotta and cottage cheese.

  • Avoid process food as much as you can such as bacon, sausage, ham, hotdogs, luncheon meats, corned beef and pastrami.

  • Avoid Alcoholic beverages.

  • Avoid artificially sweetened drinks and food products.

Lastly, besides cleaning up your diet you need to feed your skin with the right tools.

Tools are critical to treat acne, repair and improve your skin: Fancy Jasper, stem cell, FGF-DNA repair serum, Rescue cream and Lipid Serum. Also, investing with the proper treatments such as Beauty Journey Signature treatment and Light wave treatment, then your skin will transform to the healthy, glowing skin. We are here to help you changing your lives, not just your skin.
