To be honest, Father’s Day has always been underrated, statistics do show that people spend the most on Mother’s Day and who can blame them right? They are special to us BUT we do want to express our love and gratitude to our Father’s as well!

My dad never got a formal education, but his intense desire to learn made him creative and cunning. Dad taught himself how to read by intently studying newspapers and books he found around his house when he was a child. He peered through the windows of classrooms, trying desperately to grasp the material on the chalkboard from his hidden spot outside. Nothing stopped my dad from learning and growing. Dad taught himself Teochew Chinese, Cantonese, Mandarin, and Vietnamese.

One of the best ways to grieve the loss of my father on Father’s Day is going to the cemetery. To remember my loving father, I foster warm memories and live the happy and joyful life my father expected me to live.
