Nothing Has Worked So Far? Maybe It’s Time to Try a Different Approach
Your skin tells a story. We Help you listen, Understand, and Heal.
Your Skin Tells a Story
We Help you listen, Understand, and Heal
If you’re reading this, chances are you’ve been down a long, often frustrating road with your skin.
You’ve tried countless products, treatments, and solutions that promised quick results, but instead left you feeling more discouraged than ever.
First, I want you to know: you’re not alone, and it’s not your fault.
The skincare world can be overwhelming, packed with promises that rarely deliver lasting results. It’s easy to feel stuck, hopeless, or even skeptical after multiple disappointments.
At Beauty Journey Studio, I take a completely different approach. One built on empathy, understanding, and science-backed skincare.
Here’s the truth: your skin is unique, and quick fixes rarely address the deeper, underlying causes of your skin concerns.
Those stubborn acne, lingering scars, hyperpigmentation, or fine lines aren’t simply surface-level issues.
They’re signals from your body that something deeper is happening. Addressing these underlying issues, like inflammation, hormonal imbalance, or a compromised skin barrier is key to real and lasting change.
And yes, real change takes patience.
Your skin didn’t become this way overnight, and healing takes time. But here’s the good news: you don’t have to navigate this journey alone.
My mission at Beauty Journey Studio is to guide and support you every step of the way.
Together, we’ll uncover the root causes of your skin concerns, craft a personalized skincare plan, and make sure you feel empowered, informed, and confident throughout your journey.
Imagine waking up, looking in the mirror, and genuinely loving what you see.
Clear, radiant, healthy skin that reflects the inner confidence you’ve rediscovered.
I’d love to invite you to a personalized consultation-no pressure, no judgment.
Just a heart-to-heart about your skin journey, your goals, and how we can get you there together.
This is your moment to finally break free from the frustration and discover skincare that truly cares for YOU
Let’s take the first step together.

Would You Like to Wake Up With Skin This Clear Every Summer?
What if clear, glowing skin wasn’t just a summer dream, but your new normal? Discover Beauty Journey Studio’s proven 3-phase seasonal skin strategy that prepares, protects, and repairs your skin for radiant results all summer long. From Hydrafacials to Customized treatment and post-sun repair, this glow-up guide is your ticket to confident, barefaced beauty.
What if that wasn’t a dream, but your reality every summer?
Imagine this, You roll over in bed, stretch out slowly, and catch a glimpse of your reflection in the morning light. Your skin? Dewy. Clear. Radiant. No filters. No cover-ups. Just you, barefaced and confident, glowing like you spent your summer on a luxurious retreat.
The Hidden Reason Most Summer Skin Goals Fail
Every summer, we’re sold the same fantasy: beach-perfect skin, sweat-proof makeup, and an “effortless glow.” But here’s what no one tells you- clear, glowing summer skin isn’t about slapping on a few products in June. It’s about preparing your skin like you’d prepare your body for vacation.
The real reason most summer skin dreams fade by July?
They start too late
They treat the symptoms (sunburns, breakouts, oiliness)... not the strategy
At Beauty Journey Studio, we don’t just treat skin. We architect skin confidence. We build beauty journeys that start with the end in mind.
Want that “I woke up like this” summer glow? Here’s what it actually takes:
Phase 1: Skin Reset (Spring)
Get your skin ready before the heat hits. Think: Hydrafacials to deeply cleanse and hydrate, customized treatments to resurface, and micronutrient support to boost barrier repair.
Why it works: When your pores are clean and your skin barrier is healthy, you’re less prone to inflammation, sun-triggered pigmentation, and oily congestion.
☀️ Phase 2: Skin Sustain (Summer)
Now it’s time to maintain the glow. This is where your customized treatment can be game-changing, reducing redness, tightening pores, and calming pigmentation. Combine that with hydration-focused treatments and lightweight SPF strategies to keep your skin protected without feeling heavy.
Pro tip: We layer summer-friendly serums and recommend “sweat-smart” skin routines for active, on-the-go lifestyles.
🌙 Phase 3: Skin Recovery (Post-Summer)
The sun, saltwater, and long days can take a toll. That’s why the after-party is just as important. Bio-Microneedling, barrier repair facials, and pigment-focused peels help restore your skin’s integrity and prep you for the next seasonal glow-up.
This Isn’t Just Skin Care- It’s Identity Care
The truth? Skin isn’t just skin. It’s self-worth. It’s how we meet the world. That’s why we blend science + storytelling in every Beauty Journey consultation.
We ask:
“What would it feel like to finally love your bare skin?”
“What moments are you missing out on because of self-consciousness?”
“Who do you become when you no longer have to hide?”
These aren’t just treatments. They’re transformation triggers.
The Beauty Journey Guarantee
We’re so confident in our personalized summer skin plans, we’ve built our own Beauty Journey Confidence Guarantee:
If you follow your customized summer skin protocol and don’t see visible improvements in clarity, glow, and texture, we’ll upgrade your next treatment on us.
Because you deserve more than promises. You deserve proof.

Do I Need to Wear Sun Protection During Winter? Absolutely! Here’s Why
Let’s talk about sunscreen.
Most people think it’s a summer thing, right? Beach days, hot sun, sweaty vibes—that’s when we slap it on. But here’s the truth: your skin needs protection all year round, even during winter. Yep, those chilly, cloudy days aren’t as harmless as they seem.
Why You Still Need Sunscreen in Winter
Just because it’s cold doesn’t mean the sun takes a vacation. The UV rays, those sneaky culprits behind wrinkles, dark spots, and skin cancer, are still out there, doing their thing. In fact, up to 80% of UV rays can penetrate clouds. So, even if it’s overcast, your skin is still at risk.
Winter also means snow in many places, and guess what? Snow reflects UV rays, doubling their impact. So, if you’re hitting the slopes or just enjoying a snowy walk, your skin is catching extra rays, whether you see them or not.
What Happens If You Skip Sun Protection?
If you’re thinking, “Eh, I’ll skip sunscreen today,” here’s what might happen over time:
Accelerated Aging
UV rays are the number one cause of premature aging. Think fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin. Skipping SPF now might not show immediately, but future you will definitely notice.Dark Spots and Pigmentation
UV rays trigger melanin production, which leads to dark spots and uneven skin tone. And these spots aren’t easy to fade, trust me.Weaker Skin Barrier
Winter already dries out your skin, and UV exposure makes it worse. Your skin’s barrier gets weaker, leading to more sensitivity, dryness, and irritation.Increased Risk of Skin Cancer
This one’s serious. Long-term unprotected exposure to UV rays increases your risk of skin cancer, even in colder months.
What SPF Should You Use in Winter?
Go for a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher. It protects against both UVA (aging rays) and UVB (burning rays). If you’re outside a lot—skiing, hiking, or even running errands—reapply every 2-3 hours.
Bonus: Sunscreen Tips for Winter
Moisturizer + Sunscreen Combo
Winter air is drying, so use a sunscreen with hydrating ingredients to keep your skin soft and protected.
Don’t Forget the Lips and Eyes
Your lips and the delicate skin around your eyes need love too. Use SPF lip balm and wear sunglasses to shield against UV and wind.
Bottom Line
Winter is not your sunscreen-free pass. Protecting your skin now means fewer wrinkles, dark spots, and long-term damage in the future. Think of it as an investment in your skin’s health and glow :-) Who doesn’t want that?
So, next time you step outside, even if it’s freezing, don’t skip the SPF. Your future self will thank you!

Elevate Your Holiday Glow
Welcome to the most wonderful time of the year! I know how important it is to keep your skin looking its best, especially during the holiday season. With all the festivities, late nights, and indulgent treats, your skin can take a bit of a hit. But fear not, I've got you covered with some simple yet effective holiday skincare tips to keep your complexion glowing throughout the celebrations.
1. The Hydration Secret
The key to luminous skin during the holiday season lies in hydration. While many experts mention drinking water, let's delve deeper. Opt for hydrating foods like watermelon, cucumber, and oranges, these not only quench your thirst but also infuse your skin with moisture from the inside out.
2. Stick to Your Cleansing Routine
Late-night soirées and celebrations may tempt you to skip your evening skincare routine, but this is a must in the world of skincare. Maintain your nighttime skincare routine religiously. Cleansing your face before bed is non-negotiable and use a gentle cleanser to eliminate makeup, dirt, and pollutants. Clean skin allows your skincare to work their magic.
3. Moisturize Like a Pro
Don't settle for an ordinary moisturizer. Invest in a high-performance product enriched with nourish, hydrate and repair redness at the same time to ensure your skin retains moisture and maintains a supple, youthful appearance.
4. Pamper Yourself with Masks
Treat yourself to some skincare self-care with hydrating face masks. They're a great way to give your skin a little extra TLC after long nights of celebrating.
5. The Year-Round Sunscreen Rule
While others may forget, we don't. Even in winter, UV rays are your skin's enemies. Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher. Shield your skin from UVA and UVB damage, preserving its flawless texture.
6. Prioritize Beauty Sleep
During the celebrations, don't underestimate the importance of restorative sleep. Prioritize restful nights of 7-8 hours. Your skin repairs and rejuvenates while you sleep then you wake up to a refreshed, youthful complexion that embodies the holiday spirit.
7. Limit the Sugar and Alcohol
I know, it's the season of sweets and cocktails, but excessive sugar and alcohol can lead to skin inflammation and dehydration. Try to indulge in moderation and balance it with nutritious foods that are rich in antioxidants to counteract these effects.
8. Stay Stress-Free
Easier said than done, I know, but high-stress levels can lead to skin issues and health issues. Find time for relaxation, whether it's through meditation, a warm bath, or simply taking a break to unwind.
9. Consult the Expert
If you're dealing with specific skin concerns, such as acne, scars, or wrinkles, consider seeking professional guidance. My experience of transforming countless individuals' skin has proven that a personalized skincare plan can deliver transformative results.
In conclusion, your skincare journey is as unique as you are. By following these expert holiday skincare tips, you're not just preserving your skin's beauty; you're celebrating it. Revel in the festivities, and let your skin radiate the same joy as your holiday celebrations.
Enjoy your exclusive path to holiday radiance, and revel in the beauty that is uniquely you!

The Ultimate Guide to Acne Scar Types and How Bio-Micro needling can Transform Your Skin
Did you know that 1 in 5 people struggle with acne scars? They're not just marks on your skin; they're blemishes on your confidence. I get it!
Now let's break it down.
How Do You Get Acne Scars?
When you get a pimple, your skin is inflamed. Your body tries to heal it by making new skin cells, but sometimes it goes a bit overboard. Too many cells = a raised scar. Too few cells = a dented scar.
Why Do You Get Acne Scars?
Overproduce sebum (Oil) production: You're more likely to get acne and the scars that follow because of extra oil.
Inflammation: The angrier the zit, the bigger the risk for a scar. Inflammation can eat away at collagen, leading to dented scars.
Acne Severity and Duration: The worse the acne, the worse the scars, especially if it sticks around for a long time and is tough to get rid of.
Types of Acne Scars
Ice Pick Scars: Small but deep holes. These are like tiny holes or dents that can go deep into your skin. You get them when a nasty cyst leaves a long-lasting mark from the skin's surface down to the deeper layers.
Boxcar Scars: Wider, U-shaped scars. Think of these as wide, boxy dips in your skin. They happen when zit-related inflammation messes with your skin's building block, collagen, and makes it sink.
Rolling Scars: Makes your skin look wavy. Imagine gentle hills and valleys on your skin—that's what rolling scars look like. They happen because fibrous tissue bands tug at your skin from below, making it look wavy.
Raised Scars (Hypertrophic and Keloid): These guys are different; they pop up instead of sinking down. They show up when your skin goes overboard making collagen while healing from acne.
Hyperpigmentation: Not really a scar but a dark spot.
There are many ways to treat acne scars such as laser Therapy, Chemical Peel Acid, filler, Microneedling cream, serum etc…..but, today we are going to talk about how we help Acne scar clients with our Bio-Microneedling.
What is Bio-Microneedling?
Bio-microneedling, also known as Spongilla Spicules, comes from freshwater sponges. These tiny, needle-like bits are turned into a powder or gel. When it touches your skin, it acts like a mini scrubbing brush. Think of it as a high-tech way to exfoliate and jumpstart your skin's healing process.
How Bio-Microneedling Comes to the Rescue for Acne and Scars?
Bio-Microneedling helps increase blood flow and kicks your skin cells into gear. This means it can tackle several skin problems like:
Acne: Gets the gunk out and helps your skin breathe.
Acne Scars: Stimulates your skin to fill in the gaps, reducing the look of scars.
Skin Tone: Helps even out the highs and lows in your skin's texture.
Conclusion
Acne scars might be common, but they don't have to be permanent. Understanding the types of scars you have is step one. Step two is finding the right treatment, and Bio-Microneedling might just be your skin's new BFF.
Ready to say goodbye to acne scars? Let's get your skin back to fabulous and let us help you through this battle with you!

Understanding the How and Why? Say Goodbye to Acne!
What’s Up With Acne, Anyway?
Ever wonder why you get acne? You're not alone. Acne usually starts when oil and dead skin clog up your hair follicles. Imagine your skin like a busy highway; sometimes traffic gets jammed, and that's when acne happens. Factors that can make it worse include:

Ever wonder why you get acne? You're not alone. Acne usually starts when oil and dead skin clog up your hair follicles. Imagine your skin like a busy highway; sometimes traffic gets jammed, and that's when acne happens. Factors that can make it worse include:
Stress: Yep, stress can mess with your skin. When you're stressed, the hormone cortisol kicks in and makes your skin oilier.
Hormones change: Fluctuations in hormone levels, such as during puberty, menstrual cycles, pregnancy, or menopause, can affect oil production. They can send your oil glands into overdrive.
Diet: Eating a lot of sugar and processed carbs could make your skin oily and lead to acne. But it's not the same for everyone; how food affects your skin can be complicated.
Skincare Products: Using skincare products that are too harsh can dry out your skin, making it produce even more oil to balance things out. So, make sure you're using the right products for your skin condition not clogging your pores even more.
The Acne Drama: What Goes Down
Oil Overload: Your skin makes too much oil.
Clogged Pores: This oil mixes with dead skin and blocks your pores.
Bacteria Bash: Acne bacteria love clogged pores.
Red Alert: Your skin gets inflamed, and voila—acne!

A man who holds a permanent place in my heart, even though he has departed to heaven
To be honest, Father’s Day has always been underrated, statistics do show that people spend the most on Mother’s Day and who can blame them right? They are special to us BUT we do want to express our love and gratitude to our Father’s as well!
My father played a dual role in my life, serving as both my mother and father. He selflessly devoted himself to his children. Today, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to my father, as I owe much of who I am today to his love and passion. His unwavering support and belief in me gave me the courage and strength to pursue my own aspirations.
I also have a little secret to share with you, especially to all the ladies out there, whether you're daughters or wives. Men often neglect to indulge in self-care and pampering. We shower them with love and care, but when it comes to taking a little time for themselves, particularly in terms of skincare and maintenance, they tend to overlook it. I'll admit, I've been guilty of this myself! I have a consistent skincare routine and regular treatments, but my father was the last person who would consider doing the same. On one occasion, when he visited me from San Diego, I jokingly offered him a facial. He chuckled and replied, "Are you kidding me? I'm already old, I don't need a facial, and people will make fun of me." Despite his initial reluctance, I managed to persuade him to give it a try. And you know what? He became hooked. Every time he visited us, he would actually request a facial/treatment, without any prompting from me.
So, I encourage you to encourage the special man in your life, whether it's your father or husband, to explore the world of facials. Show them your love by treating them to a little pampering, allowing them some relaxation time, and offering expert advice from the estheticians at Beauty Journey Studio. Not only will your man come out looking great, but we also provide all the necessary tools and products for him to maintain his appearance at home. Even if he only tries it once, we have everything he needs to continue looking fantastic. Like my dad, most men have never experienced a facial and are often hesitant to ask for one. With just a gentle nudge, they may discover that they've been missing out on something truly enjoyable all this time.

Bio Micro-needling is your ultimate solution for acne and acne scars
Bio- Microneedling is known as Spongilla spicules. Spongilla spicules are tiny, needle-like structures found in freshwater sponges, specifically in the Spongilla species. These structures are composed primarily of silica and serve as a kind of skeleton, providing structural support to the sponge. They also play a defensive role, deterring potential predators with their sharp points. In skin care, Spongilla spicules have been used in a procedure known as "Bio- Microneedling" or "Spongilla Peeling".
Bio-Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that leverages the unique properties of Spongilla spicules. The spicules are ground into a powder and then mixed into a base to create a peeling cream or gel. When applied to the skin, the tiny spicules perform a microdermabrasion-like function, exfoliating dead skin cells and stimulating the skin's natural regeneration process. The mechanical action of the spicules helps to increase blood circulation and stimulate cellular renewal, which can help to improve the skin's texture, tone, and overall appearance.
Bio-Microneedling can be used to address a variety of skin concerns, including acne, post-acne scars, hyperpigmentation, and signs of aging. However, because it involves physically abrading the skin, Bio- Microneedling may not be suitable for those with very sensitive skin or certain skin conditions. It's recommended to consult with your skincare professional before undergoing this procedure.
It's also worth noting that while Bio-micro needling treatments can be beneficial to address a variety of skin concerns, they can be irritating if not paring homecare correctly. To avoid potential side effects such as skin irritation or sensitivity you should follow as directed by Skincare Professional.
Bio-Micro needling can have several unique benefits
When used correctly and responsibly in skincare,
particularly in procedures like this.
Let's delve deeper into the benefits of Spongilla spicules,
particularly their regenerative properties and
how these help with acne and scars.
Regulation of Sebum Production: Sebum, the oil produced by our skin, can clog pores when produced in excess, leading to acne. Spongilla peeling can help regulate sebum production by removing excess oil and balancing the skin.
Pore Unclogging: Spongilla spicules provide physical exfoliation, which aids in clearing the pores of excess sebum, dead skin cells, and bacteria—the primary contributors to acne.
Promotion of Skin Renewal: The micro-abrasions created by Spongilla spicules signal the body to increase cell turnover. This means the skin regenerates at a faster rate, helping to clear existing acne more quickly and effectively.
Stimulation of Collagen Production: When the skin is lightly injured, as in the case of Spongilla peeling, it responds by producing more collagen to heal the 'wound'. Collagen is a crucial protein that maintains skin structure and elasticity. Increased collagen production can help to 'fill in' depressed acne scars, reducing their appearance over time.
Improved Skin Texture and Tone: The exfoliation provided by Spongilla spicules removes the uppermost layer of the skin. WIth repeated treatments, this can help to gradually resurface the skin, reducing the appearance of acne scars. It can also improve skin texture and reduce hyperpigmentation, providing a more even skin tone.
Enhanced Absorption of Topical Treatments: The process of exfoliation improves the absorption of other skincare products. This means that any topical treatments for acne or scarring will be more effective after Spongilla peeling, as they can penetrate deeper into the skin.
Some people might find their skin becomes a little red or feels sensitive after treatment. It's a bit like how your skin might feel after you get sunburned. In some cases, your skin might even feel a bit dry or flaky. This is because the spicules help your skin get rid of old, dead skin cells.
Avoid contact with water for 7-8 hours.
Sometimes, when you begin a new skincare treatment, especially one that accelerates skin cell turnover, your skin may initially respond with a breakout. This is often referred to as "purging" and typically clears up once your skin adjusts to the new treatment. This is just a Temporary Breakout.
With the increased turnover of skin cells, the new skin may be more sensitive to sunlight. This makes it crucial to apply broad-spectrum sunscreen during the day and reapply every 2-3 hours when you are working outdoors or in any outdoor activities.
How about your skin becoming very red, and itchy, or if it starts to hurt after 8 hours? So far, we have NO ONE experienced it. Please contact your skin care professional right away and let her know who will be able to help you solve the solution. It's also really important to remember that our skin is like our fingerprint - unique to us. So, while some people might not have any side effects at all, others might have a few. It's all about finding what works best for your skin.
In summary, Bio-Microneedlings aid in regenerating skin affected by acne and acne scars by balancing sebum production, promoting skin renewal, stimulating collagen production, improving skin texture, and enhancing the effectiveness of other treatments. However, it's essential to remember that everyone's skin responds differently to treatments. It may take multiple sessions and a period of weeks or months to see significant improvement.

Vivian's Story of Skin Healing
Our skin tells a story about where we've been. Our skin also tells the world about our health, our vitality, and how we see ourselves.
Skin problems are never just "skin deep" - they sometimes require a lot of patience and persistence to be fixed.
But when you finally get to the root of the problem, and you wake up one morning to see glowing, healthy skin shining back at you in the mirror… There's no better feeling than this.

Skin problems are never just "skin deep" - they sometimes require a lot of patience and persistence to be fixed.
But when you finally get to the root of the problem, and you wake up one morning to see glowing, healthy skin shining back at you in the mirror… There's no better feeling than this.
Today, I want to share a story about one of my favorite clients with you😍
When I met Vivian in 2017, she was suffering from severe cystic acne, and her confidence in her appearance was very low.
“I’ve struggled with really bad acne all my life. I used to get those big painful stubborn ones and it was so frustrating when new ones would appear, often on top of the old ones that hadn't even healed yet.”
Vivian had tried truly everything to heal her skin, and she was becoming desperate and depressed. She didn’t like to look at herself in the mirror, and strangers would offer advice for her skin that just made her feel worse.
“I've tried everything from dermatologist and prescriptions to OTC products. My face was very bumpy, red and flaky. My acne situation was probably on the slightly more severe side than the average person and I even considered Accutane as a last resort, but I was scared of the side effects.”
Vivian reached out to Beauty Journey after seeing reviews from people who'd had similar acne struggles and had great results with our treatments.
“I found Beauty Journey 5 years ago after reading all the positive reviews and success stories, especially the ones with severe acne like myself.”
I started Vivian off with Beauty Journey’s Signature Treatment, which narrows in on skin healing by targeting dysfunctions under the surface layer of the skin. Our Signature Treatment includes a deep cleanse, exfoliation, extractions (as needed), a nourishing mask, and a Facial Infusion. During a Facial Infusion, the skin cells of your face receive a huge dose of our incredibly effective professional products. In combination with other modalities like Lightwave LED Therapy, we encourage your facial skin to stimulate new cell growth, maintain a healthy water balance and repair vital skin structures.
"Kristina had put together a treatment plan that catered specifically to my skin goals. I was coming in every month for acne extraction followed by LED light therapy and a lot of different products being massaged into the skin. My skin was in such bad shape. I could tell how hard she worked to extract all the clogged pores at each visit. The purging process took 6 months.”
As Vivian’s skin began to heal, I saw how dedicated she was to the process. Through medications, extractions, and consistent treatments at home and with The 7- in -1 LED Mask, Vivian started to notice a really positive change in the health of her skin.
“Now that I'm acne free and my hyperpigmentation has all cleared up, I see Kristina only a few times a year for maintenance while still consistently using her recommended products at home. I love that she knew what to introduce and switch out in my homecare routine to cater specifically to what my skin needed.”
“If I can now enjoy clear skin thanks to Beauty Journey Studio, I think many others can too. Trust Kristina; she knows what she's doing. And have a lot of patience because good things take time.”

To the Men Who Make Us Feel Inspiration and Loved
My dad was a very, very good man.
I know a lot of people say this about their father - but my dad, he was really something great.
My dad never got a formal education, but his intense desire to learn made him creative and cunning. Dad taught himself how to read by intently studying newspapers and books he found around his house when he was a child. He peered through the windows of classrooms, trying desperately to grasp the material on the chalkboard from his hidden spot outside. Nothing stopped my dad from learning and growing. Dad taught himself Teochew Chinese, Cantonese, Mandarin, and Vietnamese.

Dad taught himself Teochew Chinese, Cantonese, Mandarin, and Vietnamese.
When my mom passed away in 1986, Dad jumped in with both feet to be housekeeper, teacher, mother, father, and the hardest worker I’ve ever known.
Our family owned a dried goods store. My dad worked himself to the bone, carrying huge bags of dried food to be delivered in our community. But I never heard my dad complain.
In fact, he gave us the best of him at all times. He always put us kids first (10 of us in total!), bringing home delicious dishes or sharing a durian. I think fondly of times sharing durians with my dad even as an adult.
He brought us to the US to build a relationship with his grandchildren later on in life and lived out the rest of his life surrounded by love and family, as he always wanted.
He had the biggest, most generous heart - endlessly giving without asking in return. He wasn’t one for sharing sentiments or mushy words, instead to show his love through actions, warm meals, and tropical foods to his family.
Thank you for allowing me to honor my dad by writing about him. I miss him every day, and it warms my heart to be able to share a tiny snippet of his beautiful life story with you.
I love you always, Dad. Happy Father’s Day.
And to you - I hope that you are warmed by memories of your own father on this special day, whether he’s with you closed by/far distance or in spirit.

A story from my heart for Mother's Day
My mother faced a lot of heartbreaks in her life, but it never made her hard. I was still young when she passed away at the young age of 49. However, the amount of lessons I learned from my mom in the short time shaped the way I am. I am blessed to have her in my life.
Moms shape who we are 💑
MOMs teach ✍️ us the lessons we never forget👣
Moms show us what love 💗looks like.
My mother faced a lot of heartbreaks in her life, but it never made her hard. I was still young when she passed away at the young age of 49. However, the amount of lessons I learned from my mom in the short time shaped the way I am. I am blessed to have her in my life.
I’m told I had a big brother, though I never met him. He passed away before I was born. We weren’t allowed to talk about him in my household, but I know for sure that my mother was crushed.
My mother’s grief softened over time but began to show itself in a different way. She dressed me in boy’s clothes and gave me a boy's haircut. It was like she was trying to hold on to the spirit of my brother by having me dress like him.
I didn't understand this until many years later because I wasn’t told about my big brother when I was young, but I went along with it because I just wanted to make my mother smile. I loved to see her smile.
This continued on for many years until one day I returned home from school in a panic. There was blood on the inside of my pants and I was sure I must be dying! I ran to my mom, begging for her to save me from certain death.
My mother smiled calmly and proudly.
She explained that I had just got my first period.
This meant I was a woman now 💃
️She said to me, "Kristina, I'm going to buy you a dress, and we will grow out your hair. You're a woman now!"
Her bright smile made me calm down immediately. My mother seemed to think this was a very good thing!
Along with the good news that she would buy me dresses and that I could grow my hair longer, she gave me the following advice:
“Never let any boys or men touch your hand - you’ll get pregnant!”
Though this advice sounds a little bizarre and funny in retrospect, please laugh with me 😉, it worked like a charm: I never let any man touch me until I met my husband when I was 30 years old.
So I have my mom to thank for waiting until I met a good man to take care of me, too.
I love you forever, Mom. Happy Mother’s Day 💗💗
To all of you reading this, I hope you are surrounded by love this Mother’s Day. Whether it's your first Mother's Day with a new precious baby, or you're celebrating with a mom in heaven, I hope that you take the time to reflect on how lucky the world is to have Moms like you and like the ones we've been blessed with!

A Healthy Skin Starts with a Healthy Diet. Here's How Your Diet Affects Your Skin
Waking up to a breakout is never pleasant, and yet, it can happen even to the rest of us. But knowing what causes breakouts can significantly reduce the chances of experiencing one.
There are many reasons behind an acne breakout. Maybe you swapped a product for a new one, didn’t change your face towels or pillowcases regularly or didn’t drink enough water. All of these are viable reasons that can trigger breakouts. But another cause for breakouts is food.
Waking up to a breakout is never pleasant, and yet, it can happen even to the rest of us. But knowing what causes breakouts can significantly reduce the chances of experiencing one.
So, what exactly causes our skin to act up?
There are many reasons behind an acne breakout. Maybe you swapped a product for a new one, didn’t change your face towels or pillowcases regularly or didn’t drink enough water. All of these are viable reasons that can trigger breakouts. But another cause for breakouts is food.
Yes, diets play an important role in how the skin responds. Dairy, sugar, and gluten are some of the things that need to be minimized or removed from the diet. But overall, the main contributing factors to acne are fast cells turnover, fast oil flows, and abnormal cell division, stress, hormonal issues, and medication.
We immediately tend to think that junk food is the root of all problems, and while there is a correlation between acne and the consumption of fatty or sugary products, causation can be difficult to prove.
But, according to a few studies, there are certain foods that are more likely to cause a bad case of acne, and today, we are going to see exactly how your diet affects your skin.
Can Your Diet Actually Affect Your Skin?
Some of us have heard that food plays a big role in having acne-free skin, while others have heard the opposite. But what exactly is the truth?
The skin is the largest organ in our body, and just like any organ, it is influenced by the nutrients we consume. These nutrients are provided by the food we eat. Once food has entered the digestive system, it is broken down into glucose, vitamins, amino acids, fatty acids, and minerals.
All these nutrients are essential to our health, so if your diet is lacking, then your body, and ultimately your skin, will take the hit.
But acne is not the only skin condition influenced by your diet. Food can also impact blemishes, wrinkles, and moisture levels in your skin.
What Foods Should You Avoid?
A recent study not only solidifies the correlation between our dietary choices and the apparition of acne but may also give us clues about the types of foods we should stay away from.
The study was performed on 24,452 participants, all of which were categorized in one of three acne-related categories:
Never had acne
Had acne in the past
Currently has acne
The conclusion of this study is that certain categories of food products appear to be associated with current cases of acne. Here are some of those products:
Dairy
Dairy has been linked to acne in several studies, but the precise reason why it causes breakouts is still not fully clear. A hypothesis blames the high carbohydrate content, which increases the levels of blood sugar, which in turn leads to a spike in insulin. This spike leads to higher oil production.
If you believe that dairy products are causing your acne, try replacing animal milk with other alternatives on the market, like soy milk or almond milk. Also, make sure that you maintain a proper intake of calcium by eating soy, spinach, and other foods high in calcium.
Sugar
Not only is sugar bad for acne, but it also speeds up the aging process of your skin. Once in your body, the sugars bind to the elastic proteins and collagen in your skin, causing them to stiffen. This process is called glycation and it makes your skin less elastic, making it prone to sagging and wrinkles.
There are a lot of products that contain refined sugars, so the best way to avoid sugar is to look for foods with whole-grain carbohydrates.
Salty Foods
Salty foods, such as French fries and chips, are without a doubt delicious, but they are not that great for your skin. High intakes of salt facilitate water retention, which can make you feel and look bloated.
Also, very high quantities of iodized salt increase the likelihood of having breakouts, which is why you should always check the labels of the food you are purchasing.
Some other foods that should be consumed in reduced quantities are carbohydrates, red meat, and foods rich in Omega-6 fats.
Foods That You Should Eat
It comes as no surprise that the first foods on this list are fruits and vegetables. For example, yellow, red, and green (leafy) vegetables are a fantastic source of vitamin A, which is an important component of the skin cell renewal process.
For acne, skin cells turn over too fast vitamin A, which will regulate the skin cell renewal process. For aging skin, skin cells turn over too slow with topical vitamin A and the food you eat will help the skin cell renewal process.
Vegetables rich in vitamin C (broccoli, citrus fruits, potatoes, peppers, etc...) are essential in the production of collagen. Vitamin C also works as an antioxidant that has an active role in protecting your skin from the effects of UV rays. Also, vitamin C prevents post inflammation, pigmentation, and scars.
Besides fruit and vegetables, you should also include fish in your diet, as it is an excellent source of Omega-3 fatty acids, which have an anti-inflammatory role. These fatty acids are fantastic for people who have drier skin or have flaky skin.
Two other great additions are nuts and seeds, both of which are great sources of Vitamin E. This vitamin promotes the healing of skin cells and has a role in protecting the cells’ membrane. They also are full of minerals like zinc and selenium.
Although you should be careful with what you eat, you should also pay attention to your skincare products and skincare routine.
If you’re looking for quality products that will improve your skin, then we have the thing for you. You can visit our online shopping and see which products fit your skin condition.
And if you don’t know what to choose or how to deal with your skin condition, then you can always schedule an initial consultation. They will be more than happy to teach you all you need to know about your skin.

7 Ways to Transform Your Skin for Long-Term Results - Fix Retinol in section 4
Want to know what experts have to say about helping your skin live its best life. Taking just a few small steps every day can completely revitalize your skin’s health and aesthetic. Find out what they are in this article.
Who doesn’t want vibrant, smooth skin?
Maybe your skin is healthy, but it lacks a certain glow.
You’ve already got good skin, but you’d like to get that wow factor that makes others look at you in awe and ask you what your secret is.
On the other hand, if you’re struggling with acne, then you know firsthand getting clear skin doesn’t happen overnight. It’s often a waiting game and it takes consistency and commitment from your part, following a solid skincare routine day in and day out.
Whatever the case, when it comes to clear skin, it’s often the little changes that make a huge difference.
It might seem hard to believe, but taking just a few small steps every day and making smart product choices can completely revitalize your skin’s health and aesthetic.
Today, I’d like to arm you with the right knowledge and tools to help you get the skin you’ve always wanted.
Some of this advice might be new or groundbreaking for you, while other tips might just come as reminders for you about what steps you need to take to ensure your skin is living its best life.
So without further ado, let’s begin.
Here are 7 must-know tips recommended by experts that will help you completely transform your skin:
1. Catch up on your beauty sleep
People with amazing skin often have great nighttime habits.
And there’s science behind this. When you skip a few hours of sleep, the cortisol or stress hormones in your body rises. This, in turn, causes the collagen in your skin to break down, leading to wrinkles and sagginess.
In fact, researches show that women who get seven to nine hours of sleep per night actually look younger than those who only sleep for five hours.
So, if you want to keep your skin fresh and firm, even as you age, then make sure you’re getting in an adequate amount of rest hours.
2. Go sugar-free
Reducing or completely eliminating sugar from your diet can do wonders for your skin.
But don’t just take our word for it.
Several studies have shown a link between increased sugar consumption and bad skin health or skin issues like acne and eczema. This is because eating refined sugar often results in higher insulin levels which cause inflammation in the body and lead to a whole host of issues.
So pass on that sugar next time you get a craving for a sweet snack and opt for a healthier alternative like fruit or stevia extracts.
3. Be mindful of your dairy intake
As acne sufferers have come to learn the hard way, dairy is not your friend if you’ve got skin issues. Countless people have had success stories and managed to heal their skin from the inside out simply by cutting or drastically reducing dairy from their diet.
But this evidence is not merely anecdotal. Scientists are pretty clear on this: dairy can definitely exacerbate skin issues and make conditions like acne worse. So make sure you’re consuming this any dairy derivatives with caution.
And if it’s just too much for you to quit milk, consider opting for alternatives like almond, rice or oat milk instead. Your skin will thank you.
4. Try out retinoids
Retinol is highly recommended by dermatologists to clear up acne and prevent aging. It’s seen by many experts as the Holy Grail to obtaining beautiful and smooth skin long-term. So, if you want a sustainable way of looking after your skin’s health, definitely consider trying out some retinoid products.
5. Change your hair products
A lot of hair or styling products nowadays contain waxes, toxins or oils that cause irritation and clog your pores. This wreaks havoc on your skin and often leads to stubborn acne or blackheads.
We recommend you switch up the items you use to style your hair and only products with high-quality ingredients that minimize breakouts.
6. Exfoliate once per week
If you want a glow boost that’s fast to achieve and also lasts, then exfoliation is your friend. Turn this process into a habit and make sure you exfoliate once per week either using a face scrub. Remember to not overdo it though! Too much exfoliation will strip your skin of its natural oils and lead to breakouts.
7. Cut down on alcohol
Reducing your alcohol intake can truly transform your skin in the long run.
Here are 3 reasons why drinking can severely damage your skin:
Alcohol is a toxin: Not just any toxin, but one that’s been linked to poor liver function, hormone disruption, and cell damages. All of these internal issues are bound to show up in your external appearance as well, while also impacting your skin’s overall health.
Alcohol lacks nutrients: Drinking has little to no nutrient value; it’s basically consuming empty calories that not only lack any vitamins or minerals but actively get in the way of nutrient absorption in your body. This leads to puffiness, wrinkles and other aging signs.
Alcohol is a diuretic: This means that it causes you to lose a lot of water and can easily lead to you becoming dehydrated. And we all know how important drinking enough water and staying hydrated throughout the day is for your skin.

Why Do We Need Face Mask?
We know that people have been interested in skincare and cosmetology since ancient times and face masks are no exception. It is even presumed that face masks have been the very first cosmetic products.
How It All Started
Looking back in time, we can notice that ancient Indian and Egyptian civilizations were the most prominent users of face masks, at least at first. The usage of these early masks was very diverse, with some people using them before or during religious rituals while others applied them to enhance health and beauty.
Some of these masks are still very popular today, a great example being ubtan, which is originally an Indian face mask. The ingredients for ubtan changed according to each individual’s skin condition, the region, and the season, but the main ingredients used were:
Herbs
Flowers
Roots (such as turmeric)
Initially used for beauty purposes, ubtan masks were soon integrated into religious events, such as Diwali and the Haldi wedding ceremony. But India is not the only place where face masks were a common practice. China, Egypt, and Rome were all big on using masks to beautify their appearance.
For example, Cleopatra is said to have used clay or Dead Sea mud masks to clean her skin twice a week and egg whites to tighten her pores and appear more youthful.

Seeing that face masks have been used for such a long period of time, it’s natural to assume that there are plenty of benefits to them. And we would be right with that assumption.
The benefits depend on what kind of face mask you choose and the skin condition that you have. But generally speaking, masks help to:
Moisturize the skin
Unclog pores
Reduce the appearance of redness and hyperpigmentation
Minimize the appearance of large pores and fine lines
Cleanse the skin of excess sebum, oils, and dirt
Give a youthful appearance to your skin
These are just a few benefits that your skin can get from regularly using masks, but as mentioned above, the advantages highly depend on the active ingredients of each mask.
Types of Face Masks
Face masks are not what they used to be in ancient times, although there are still plenty of masks that are made from natural ingredients and that you can easily make at home, there is a wide variety of masks you can choose from.
Here are a few types of face masks you can commonly find in stores or online:
Sheet masks
Clay masks
Peel-off masks
Hydrogel sheet masks
Cream masks
Sleep masks
Exfoliating masks
Our Recommended Face Masks
With so many options on the market, it’s easy to become overwhelmed and not know which face mask to pick. In these cases, you should turn to professional help and ask for some recommendations.
As experts in the skincare department, this is what we suggest:
This mask is the perfect choice for people looking to:
decongests clogged pores
increases radiance and give the skin a dewy look
slow down the aging process of the skin
reduce hyperpigmentation
rejuvenate their skin
How can one mask achieve such amazing results?
Well, it uses a combination of oxygenating technology and high concentrations of antioxidant botanicals, including resveratrol, black currant extract, and grape cell extract, to achieve all the benefits above.
The high levels of oxygen infused into the skin by this advanced oxygenating technology will revive the tissue, making your skin glow from within. Not only that, but the oxygen supports the collagen structures from within the skin, while the antioxidants found in the mask fight against collagen loss, sagging skin, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation.
How To Apply the Mask
All you need to do is apply the product in a thin layer on your face and leave it to act for three to five minutes. During this time you will notice the mask turning white. Once the five minutes pass, you will go in with warm water and rinse the skin. Two to three pumps of the product should be more than enough for one use on the entire face.
The second mask that we are going to talk about is the Rose Brightening Mask. This mask will help you:
clean the skin of excess sebum and impurities
minimize the appearance of congested pores
get smooth, mattified skin
refresh dull, tired skin
How does this mask work?
It uses the calming effects of chamomile to soothe the skin and combines it with hyaluronic acid and natural earth minerals and clays (such as bentonite and illite) that clean the skin and offer it a radiant glow. The Rose Brightening Mask is perfect for people who want something that gently hydrates the skin, while thoroughly cleaning it from all the impurities.
How To Apply the Mask
The mask is used after the cleansing process in your skincare routine. You apply the mask on your face, avoiding the eyes and lips, and leave it to act for ten minutes. Once ten minutes go by, you can gently remove it with a cloth dipped in warm water.
Although having a good face mask in your skincare routine is important, this is not the only product you need. Depending on your skin condition, you will need multiple steps in your routine to keep your skin healthy and happy.

So no matter what your skincare routine looks like in the end, it’s quite likely that it includes skin cleansing. But why do we cleanse our skin? And how do we know if the products we’re using are the right ones for us?
Let’s find out:
Skin Cleansing Benefits
You’d think that cleansing is just a method to clean the skin before applying the rest of your products. While that is the main role of a cleanser, it has other benefits as well, especially when there is such a wide variety of cleansers available on the market.
Depending on the ingredients and type, cleansers have the following benefits:
Remove dirt, impurities, and makeup — having a cleanser is essential, especially if you have the habit of wearing makeup every day. But it’s not just makeup that you want to get rid of. It’s also the dirt particles that hang on to your skin during the day, as well as dead skin cells, excess sebum, and pollutants.
Boost skin hydration — after removing the barrier of impurities, your skin will be able to absorb the moisturizer you apply afterward much easier. In fact, all products that follow a good cleansing routine will be absorbed faster and easier.
Exfoliate the skin — some cleansers have been combined with scrubs in order to exfoliate and cleanse your skin at the same time. These cleansers will have micro particles that facilitate exfoliation. Some other cleansers have been combined with chemical exfoliants, such as salicylic acid and glycolic acid in order to clean the skin better.
Help maintain clear skin — blackheads, whiteheads, and occasionally pimples can appear if the skin is not properly cleaned. Pores and hair follicles can easily get clogged with dirt and sebum, therefore creating blackheads and whiteheads. But a good cleanser can prevent the buildup and make sure your pores stay clean.
Balance skin pH — not only that but cleansing allows the skin to be oxygenated properly, which aids the regeneration process of the skin. With the proper cleansers, your skin will look younger and small imperfections such as wrinkles, acne scarring, or rosacea will become less visible.
When Should You Cleanse Your Skin?
When it comes to cleansing your skin, you should strive for balance. If you don’t cleanse enough times, then the dirt will accumulate in your pores and you will have acne breakouts and other skin issues.
But cleansing your skin too often is also a big nono. Overcleaning can bring forth dryness, irritations, and tight and dull skin, which is not something anybody is looking for.
The common practice though is to cleanse the skin twice — once in the morning and once before bed.
Double cleansing is a common practice that is performed at the end of the day when makeup is removed from the face. This ensures that there are no traces of makeup left on the skin.
What Cleanser Should You Use?
You should always look for cleansers that fit your skin condition. For example, if you have dry skin, then you should choose a more gentle cleanser that will not strip the skin completely of its natural oils.
But if you have oily skin then you can go ahead with a cleanser that cleans the skin more thoroughly.
If you don’t know what cleanser you should use, then you should take a look at the following selection:
Arnica Cleanser — appropriate for all skin types, this cleanser will smoothen and revitalize your skin in no time.
Pumpkin Cleanser — appropriate for dry to normal, combination, and photo-aged skin, this cleanser provides important nutrition for the skin.
Clean and Clear Cleanser — appropriate for oily skin, congested pores, acne, and rosacea, this cleanser regulates sebaceous glands.
If possible, check with your dermatologist or a skin expert before introducing something new to your skincare routine.
Other Cleansing Tips
When it comes to keeping a clean and acne-free face, a great cleanser can do wonders, but it’s not the only thing you can do to ensure that you have great skin.
Here are a few tips that will keep your skin clean:
Wash your hands before your skincare routine
Change your face towel every one to two days
Wash your pillowcase every two to three days
Use lukewarm water when washing your face
Cleanse your face for at least one minute
Don’t forget about your neck
Apply the rest of your products right after your cleanse and dry your face
Cleansing is much more than what we used to know. With the knowledge and array of products that we have today, we can compose the perfect skincare routine that will leave our skin looking fresh, young, and clean.
But sometimes, we need professionals to help us figure out what products we need and how many steps should we have in our skincare routine.
If you want to get in touch with a fantastic team of skincare pros, then you can contact us today and allow us to make an important contribution to your skincare journey.

Digital Aging: What It Is and How to Prevent It
Technology brought forth a lot of wonderful things, but one of the main cons of it is digital aging. See here how digital aging influences you and how you can stop it in a few easy steps:
How much time do you spend in front of a screen?
Well, a study done in America might help us discover the answer to this question. The study reveals that the typical person spends four hours and 30 minutes watching TV, four hours and 33 minutes looking at a smartphone, over three hours using a gaming device, and nearly five hours on a laptop.
This amounts to a total of 17 hours per day spent in front of technological devices. So it comes as no surprise that this excessive exposure to digital devices is harmfully impacting our health.
Most of us would think that our eyes are the ones that suffer the most and that’s definitely true. We’ve all experienced digital eye strain, which usually comes with irritated and dry eyes, migraines, and an inability to focus.
But the eyes are not the only ones that are affected by digital devices. In fact, the blue light coming from digital screens also has a big impact on your skin.
You might be asking yourself, how does blue light affect my skin? Let’s find out:
What Is Digital Aging?
As the name suggests, digital aging is the premature aging of the skin caused by blue light. But why does long exposure to blue light accelerate the aging process of your skin?
The Impact of Artificial Blue Light
The main natural source of blue light is the sun, but we managed to create artificial blue light that can be used indoors. Within the household, the blue light comes from TVs, smartphones, tablets, laptops, etc.
Now, we all know by now that a long exposure to the sun is not at all good for the skin. Of course, the sun is an important source of vitamin D, but staying in the sun for long periods of time can cause:
Premature aging
Fine lines and wrinkles
Lower immunity
Pigmentation and discoloration
Skin cancer
Then, if having access to too much natural blue light can trigger these effects, it’s obvious that long exposures to artificial blue light will do quite a lot of damage as well. Just to get an idea of the consequences of artificial blue light, a study shows that 30 hours of exposure to blue light from smartphone or laptop screens can increase the inflammation level in skin cells by 40%.
Not only that, but blue light from digital devices exposes skin to oxidative stress (or free radicals). These free radicals can damage collagen and lead to obvious signs of aging.
Blue Light Affects the Circadian Rhythm
Blue light also disturbs the circadian rhythm, which practically governs our sleeping patterns. The presence of blue light tricks the brain into believing that it’s daylight. And during the day, our skin fights to protect itself.
Once nighttime comes and we are asleep, our skin goes into recovery mode, which is a time of intense regeneration and repair. This is when the skin absorbs topical treatments best, cell production increases, and DNA repair is boosted.
If you don’t get enough sleep, then your skin’s recovery processes will be slowed down. And obviously, melatonin will not be produced as efficiently if the body comes into contact with a constant source of blue light.
How Can You Prevent Digital Aging?
The best thing to avoid digital aging would be to reduce screen time. But this is not exactly a possibility if you are working in an office and have to be in front of a computer for at least eight hours a day.
Luckily, there are a few methods by which you can prevent digital aging. Let’s start with the easier things that you can do.
Don’t use your digital device one hour before bed. Try doing other activities, like doing your skincare, taking care of some chores, or reading a book.
When it comes to your skincare routine, you should try the following:
Products that are high in antioxidants (vitamin C). These antioxidants prevent oxidative stress from damaging the collagen within the skin.
Products with vitamin C, E, and peptides to help with skin inflammations
Collagen boosting/generation
Rich moisturizers
All in all, having a good skincare routine can really save you from digital aging, so it’s recommended that you Contact us to see what fits your skin.
Bottom Line
Finding products that work for your skin might not always be easy. Everybody’s skin is different, which means that what works for somebody, might not work for you. This is why getting in touch with a professional can help you figure out your skin condition and what skincare routine would suit you best.

My One & Only Lovely Dad
Have a happy father's day!
This year, father’s Day can be an emotional time of year because my dad is no longer with me. But whether you’re young, old, a parent, or childless, just because your father has passed away doesn’t mean you have to bury yourself under the covers and wait for the day to be over.
One of the best ways to grieve the loss of my father on Father’s Day is going to the cemetery. To remember my loving father, I foster warm memories and live the happy and joyful life my father expected me to live.

One of the best ways to grieve the loss of my father on Father’s Day is going to the cemetery. To remember my loving father, I foster warm memories and live the happy and joyful life my father expected me to live.
Looking back
I have always bragged and unapologetically been proud of my father who is undoubtedly the most handsome, generous, and loving man. He had natural gravitation that made him loved by many.
Why do I feel this way?
He never had the opportunity to receive a formal education but his curiosity and ambition enabled him to find innovative ways to learn. He built his knowledge by veering into school windows and reading books and newspapers to grasp the material!
Everything he learned, he learned by observation and he mastered the ability to speak many different languages, including Teochew Chinese, Cantonese, Mandarin, and Vietnamese.
He took two roles in my close-knit family after my mom passed away in the solemn year of 1986. He worked hard to care for his children. His nobility never once allowed him to complain and he graciously took on the role of both mother and father. To the end, he was always independent, never imparting his burden to his children, and always putting the needs of others before himself.
His generosity was shown through his love to give to others and never ask for anything in return. A man of principles, he willingly gave from his heart.
His true one-of-a-kind nature was stern yet loving; a man of simple words, who showed his love through meaning and action. He was of strong character, both mentally and physically, and at the end of his life, he showed determination with commitments to being a righteous man.
Dad, I am missed dearly you and your efforts will forever influence and deeply impact my life forever.
